Erben plays the cello of the famous Matteo Goffriller, an instrument that was played by Fournier and Yo-Yo Ma. It is an instrument that can faithfully voice the subtleties of the performer's heart, and the music is full of nourishment and depth, as if all the richness of Erben's life to date can be felt. The pianist is Shani DiLuca, a familiar face at the MIRARE/La Folle Journée Music Festival, with whom Erben has frequently collaborated in recent years. Her piano also envelops Erben's music with a deeper tone, creating an indescribable ensemble. Erben was born in 1945 in Austria to a musical family, and began playing the cello at the age of five.Since 1970, she has been a busy member of the Alban Berg Quartet, and after the quartet disbanded in 2008, she has further expanded her activities as a soloist. Shani DiLuca is a pianist who has visited Japan for La Folle Journée Festival. Born in Monaco to Sri Lankan parents, she graduated from the Conservatoire de Paris with first prize.
