The latest release from Maya Kamati, an up-and-coming singer/songwriter who mixes traditional Reunion Island music with modern production. She has teamed up with Sskyron, one of Reunion's leading R&B producers, to create unique island soul with a touch of Indian Ocean breeze. Maya Camati is a singer/songwriter whose father is Gilbert Punia, the leader of Giscacan, the leading group of Reunion's traditional "maloya" music. He is an up-and-coming artist who is expected to make further progress in the local scene, building a fan base that transcends generations while balancing the legacy of his predecessors, such as Alain Peters and Daniel Walo, and the acceptance of cutting-edge, world-class beats. He has teamed up with R&B producer Sskyron, who has also established a solid position as a solo artist, to create a new fusion of traditional music and contemporary production. The opening track, "Kaskole," begins with the enchanting sounds of the boble, a traditional instrument. From there, the dynamic shift to a radical R&B beat clearly illuminates where the piece is headed. The title track "Sovaz," the uplifting dance number "Alibi," the shimmering reggaeton manor of "Kartel," and the chill "Meute" were arranged by guitarist Adrien Pigeat, who also participated in Ziskakan, along with Sskyron.
