Description:
A Norwegian jazz/brass rock band ARMAN SUMPE D.E. was the parent band of POPOL VUH, and they were one of the few symphonic rock bands in the Norwegian progressive rock scene in the 70's that emphasized pop, melodiousness, and rich compositions typical of Scandinavian music. The band's first album from Norway's Polydor label, released in 1975, was re-released by Musea in France in 2011. The album has the same Scandinavian pop, melodious and varied music as the first two albums before the name change, but with more synths and keyboards as symbolized by the opening track 'Bury Me Dead', the album is classical and symphonic as the fantastic cover by Dave Lowe. The album is rich in classical and symphonic colors, just as the fantastic cover by Dave Lowe suggests. The composition, development, and arrangement of the individual songs, as well as the cohesiveness of the work as a whole, create a structure that is multifaceted yet has a consistent total flow, making this an authentic symphonic progressive work that is unique among the band's works, but can be considered the most highly accomplished!
