The second collection of C.P.E. Bach's works, full of Gaillard's charm that combines sharpness and softness! French female cellist Ofélie Gaillard combines elegance and suppleness in this second C.P.E. Bach album, the follow-up to her 2014 album. The first album won the Diapason d'Or of the Year in 2014, and there are high expectations for the next album. Oféry Gaillard, third prize winner of the 1998 International Bach Competition in Leipzig and winner of international competitions with the Ensemble Amaryllis, which he founded himself, is active in a wide range of music, from modern to baroque. He is a legitimate heir to the French cello school of Fournier, Torturier, and others. C.P.E Bach was an important bridge from the baroque to the classics.In the Cello Concerto No. 2, Gaillard's intensely beautiful cello and the flexible support of the Pulcinella Orchestra, both working in unison to create a performance that is truly gale-force, befitting its multi-sensorial style. The six sinfonias for strings are called "Hamburg Symphonies," and each of them is a single movement divided into three parts, a kind of precursor to the symphonies of Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. The Sinfonia No. 3 recorded here is also a lively and dynamic work, and it shows the momentum that ushered in a new era. The lively performance by the Pulcinella Orchestra is also attractive.
