Prokofiev by Kholodenko, making the most of the charm of the Fazioli pianoHolodenko completed a recording of all of Prokofiev's piano concertos, which was highly acclaimed. He next took on the challenge of solo pieces. The programming shows the persistence of Kholodenko, who dared to avoid popular pieces, revealing his dry artistic outlook. The main piece was Piano Sonata No. 6. It is the longest of Prokofiev's piano sonatas and the first of his "war sonatas. It is unique in its bright and lyrical world while showing Prokofiev's characteristic intensity. It is also a pleasure to hear the entire "fleeting fantasy" in which he wrote down the overflowing musical ideas of his early years. The bright sound of Holodenko's beloved Fazioli piano, with its diverse changes in tone and free control, gives the piece a completely new look, which is very intriguing. What is even more interesting is that he has included two rarely played pieces from his stay in the U.S., "Four Pieces" and "The Thing Itself".
