A collection of J.S. Bach's "false works"! A piece to marvel at the rich inventiveness of this latest 2017 recording by Amandine Beyer & Re-Inconvenience, who continue to bring new winds to the baroque violin. Under the rather curious title "BWV ... or not?" it is a collection of works that were supposedly composed or arranged by J.S. Bach, classified as "pseudopieces" in the J.S. Bach catalog. Works composed by Bach himself based on themes by someone other than Bach are also included at the end of the catalog. The reason for the creation of these "fake works" is that J.S. Bach copied scores of other people's works and later generations published them as Bach works. Or J.S. Bach's second son, C.P.E. Bach, often copied each other's works, so that sometimes J.S. Bach's works were published as C.P.E. Bach's works, and so on.The Bayer-led Ri Incogniti ensemble, with its flexible, rhythmic ensemble and tone, will delight listeners with the rich creativity of each work.
