The "phenomenally talented" (Gramophone) Nobuyuki Tsujii, whose DG debut with the Hammerklavier Sonata was acclaimed worldwide, now turns his attention to the works of Russian composers. He has performed "Rachmaninoff's Third" all over the world, from London to Australia, and Limelight magazine called his performance "flawless" and "peerless. The recording was made in the U.K. with the same cast of characters just prior to the tour in Japan. Tsujii also includes solo arrangements of works by Rachmaninoff and his most important pioneers, Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov. The "Nutcracker" Suite is a performance of Pletnyov's virtuosic arrangement of the "Nutcracker" Suite, which has become a standard piece of music for many pianists in recent years. The "Here is a Wonderful Place" is an arrangement by Volodos, whose beauty stands out even in the midst of the technicalities.
