Description:
The Cuban music scene of the 1970s was a place of unparalleled crossover between a fertile musical culture and socialism. The long-awaited world premiere reissue of FA-5's self-titled album ('76), a symbol of that era: !!!! The exquisite, funk-filled opening track "Muevete Con Las Fuerzas Del Corazon" is probably the best known song on the album. It is an extremely catchy song that combines a dynamite bass line, joyful horn playing, and a drum break that gets the dance floor going. On the other hand, the song crosses genres as it progresses, which is another appealing aspect of this work. Di Tu Que Haras Sin Mi" and "Paso Sin Mas" are laid-back with a West Coast Latin rock and AOR groove, while "El Blue" is dreamy, spacey, and Balearic, and "Pero Lo Cierto Es Que No Quise Mas" and the fuzzy funk rock break of "Pero Lo Cierto Es Que No QuiseAnother highlight of the album is "Casa De Ladrillo," a unique and killer song that transforms from Latin disco funk into a cover version of the Commodores' "Brick House." Released on the state-owned Areito Records, the album was directed by Nestor Caballero and arranged with Aneiro Tañón and Osvaldo Carabajoso. The prolific Tony Taño produced the album, and the recording was done by Tony Lopez, who has worked with Juan Pablo Torres, Los Reyes 73, Grupo Los George, Raul Gomez, and many other Cuban greats featured in the Cuba series.
