DONATO ELETRICO", the 2016 masterpiece recorded by one of Brazilian music's greatest geniuses João Donato with Sao Paulo's Viciga 70, is now available on vinyl in Europe! João Donato is one of the most famous and influential musicians in the history of bossa nova, along with João Gilberto. More than 20 years after returning to the forefront of the scene under the guidance of Lisa Ono, the genius pianist, who was once again in the golden age of his career in his later years, released this work, "DONATO ELETRICO," in 2016. The album is said to have been inspired by the stage performance held in 2014 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the release of his 1973 masterpiece "Quem e Quem," and is fully backed by the up-and-coming Sao Paulo band Viciga 70.The sound of the album, with its melodies filled with a unique mellowness, funky and lively percussive tunes, and an ensemble that effectively uses strings, is certainly in the lineage of Donato's masterpieces such as "BAD DONATO" and "LUGAR COMUM," as well as the aforementioned "QUEM E QUEM," and is a continuation of the electric masterpieces that Donato left behind. The sound of the album is certainly inherited from Donato's masterpieces such as "BAD DONATO" and "LUGAR COMUM" as well as "QUEM E QUEM". In addition, the album's ten tracks of original repertoire, backed by the experimental spirit of the genius, and Donato's unceasing creativity in using Fender Rhodes, Mogues, and Farfisa organs, were highly acclaimed at the time and eagerly awaited to be released on record. In 2020, the album was pressed in Brazil, but soon sold out and became difficult to obtain. Now, Groovie Records, a European label, is releasing the album again in an alternative jacket and 1LP format, different from the Brazilian pressing. If you have missed it, this is a great opportunity to purchase it.
