Description:
A phantom unreleased recording from the 50's that is believed to be Don Drummond's first recording. One of Don Drummond's most iconic songs is his Caribbean roots masterpiece "Green Island". This is an astonishing recording made in the 50's with Lenny Hibbert, the master of the Jamaican jazz zither and bandmaster of the Alpha School. It seems to have been a downbeat special cut directly to dubplate, not to recording tape, and was transferred from deteriorating dubplate to recording tape in the early 1960s, where it remained in the tape vaults of Studio One. It is a historically valuable source of music that can be said to be in the realm of Jamaican music mythology, and its wonderful contents will make you feel the dawn of Jamaican music in the 1950s. Studio One is indeed a long-established studio, and its name is well deserved.
