The buzz is booming in Europe! French soprano Julie Fuchs' first exclusive Sony Classical contract is a Mozart album with Thomas Hengelbrock. Julie Fuchs was born in Meaux, France, and began studying violin, music theory, and music history at the Avignon Conservatory at age 7. She participated in the recording of "Which was the Son of" with Bjork as a small child, and began serious classical singing training at the age of 18. 2006 she entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where she was unanimously awarded first prize for singing by the jury. 2013 she won second prize at the Operalia She won second prize in the 2013 Operalia competition and three Victoire de la Musique awards in 2012, 2014, and 2021. She made her debut as Ele in Messager's Love in a Mask and as Susanna in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro; in 2016 she made her debut at the Bavarian State Opera as Musetta in Puccini's Boheme. That same year, she also sang at the BBC Proms, and has released two albums with Deutsche Grammophon, "Jesus! and "Mademoiselle" on Deutsche Grammophon.He has also performed Mozart's "The Mercy of Emperor Tito" (Alpha) under Jeremy Lorail, Rossini's "Count Ory" (C Major) under Louis Langlais, Arn's "Siblet" under Laurens Ekilbey, Mozart's "Mithridate, King of Ponto" under Marc Minkowski ( Erato), etc. He was awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Minister of Culture in 2021.
