MISERY INDEX, a Baltimore, Maryland, USA death metal band with a career spanning over 20 years, returns to the scene with "Complete Control. Jason Netherton formed the band in 2001 after leaving the Baltimore, Maryland, USA death metal band DYING FETUS. MISERY INDEX has released six albums to date and has gained a devoted fan base. The current album, Complete Control, is the band's first work in three years since Rituals of Power (2019), which was released shortly after EXTREME THE DOJO Vol. 32 in March 2019, the band's first time on stage in Japan in 10 years. According to the band, this album is a successful continuation of their previous work. Musically, it is a more explicit mix of death metal with influences from brutal hardcore and grindcore. And he says it's like mixing elements of his early punk orientation and the darker, thematic "The Killing Gods" (2014), plus the straightforward direction of "Rituals of Power," and combining them into one. The nine songs spawned from Pandemic riff on the tensions of modern society, with devastating death metal that serves as a wake-up call for the disaffected and deprived of what they hold dear. The lyrical theme that anchors the work, as seen through the perspective of Jason Netherton, a Ph.D. in media studies, is the conflicting forces of control and chaos. This work focuses on and questions the forces that emerge voluntarily, not through violence, but on a personal level.Mixed by Will Putney (FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, THY ART IS MURDER, BODY COUNT), mastered by Jens Bogren (KREATOR, OPETH, ARCH ENEMY), with uncanny artwork by visual artist MISERY INDEX is neither a trend-setter nor a cheap thrill-seeker. Rather, it carries on the long history of dissent with the same strong spirit of social criticism as the legendary death metal band. The limited edition Deluxe 2CD Box Set includes the studio album, an EP with bonus tracks including five demo versions and instrumentals, plus a tote bag with printed artwork, button set, and poster.
