The band gained recognition with "Olden Tales & Deathly Trails" (2012) and "Sleep at the Edge of the Earth" (2015), which showcased the band's solid abilities. Their last album, "Veil of Imagination", which was self-financed and self-produced, received a huge response immediately after its release and led to the signing of a contract with Century Media and the band's first worldwide release. Their fourth studio album, "Epigone," released amidst the attention of progressive metal fans around the world, is a timeless and epic masterpiece. Like its predecessor, this album boasts over an hour of high musical density, and is sure to strike a chord with fans of OPETH, HAKEN, and DEVIN TOWNSEND. The imaginative approach and the sound that skillfully blends various genres such as progressive metal, progressive death metal, symphonic metal, melodic death metal, and folk metal is still alive and well. Vocalist/guitarist Evan Anderson Berry says of this album, "The album title "Epigone" refers to a follower or imitator, usually used in the context of art or philosophy. Every song on this album confronts this concept in some way, from a different perspective. My own sense of frustration and anguish over the pure expression of myself, as well as a general resentment at the idea of being an "artist" at all, was the starting point for the theme of this work. And beyond the artist's anguish, I am trying to touch something more fundamental," he says. And "Epigone" is heavy with the frustration and anger of the global pandemic: a band that had signed with Century Media, played festivals like 7,000 TONS OF METAL CRUISE, and was starting to move in the direction they wanted, only to have it all suddenly taken away by the Corona disaster. Suddenly everything was taken away from them. The band produced the album with such frustration, which made it very difficult for the members. However, there is a definite sense of touch in this work that everyone will find captivating.The album begins with the haunting acoustic prelude "Exhaler," continues with the album's longest piece, "Woolgatherer," a 14-minute-plus epic that is the key to the middle section, and ends with the 20-minute four-part epic "Distraction I - Distraction Nulla, In addition to the orchestration, each part is meticulously and effectively layered to create an unparalleled presence.
