The rare singer and songwriter, whose new album "Fetch The Bolt Cutters" was joined by her late dog in a shocking way, introduced the world to "Tidal" in 1996 when she was just 17 years old, and all of her previous albums have been in the top 10 on the Billboard charts, Fiona Apple. Breaking her eight-year silence since her last album, the Grammy-nominated "Idler Wheel," she has released a new album, "Fetch The Bolt Cutters|Fetch The Bolt Cutters," her fifth album in total. Since the release of her last album, Fiona Apple has not been outspoken about her new album, but on April 2, she suddenly announced the release of her new album on her unofficial fan site. The title of the album, "Fetch The Bolt Cutters," was inspired by a line from the British TV series "The FALL: Inspector Stella Gibson," in which Geraint Anderson plays a police officer who is trying to stop a sex crime. In an exclusive interview with The New Yorker, he says he was inspired by the line "Don't be afraid to speak up.Recorded over a period of years beginning in early 2012, the album features indie rock drummer Amy Wood, sound engineer John Would, bassist Sebastian Steinberg from the band Soul Coughing, and singer/songwriter/guitarist David Garza. The album was created by walking around Fiona's home in L.A., freely acclimating sounds such as muddy oil cans and algae debris from the ocean. Fiona's own sister sings on "Newspaper" and actress/model Cara Delevingne sings on the chorus of "Fetch The Bolt Cutters". Fiona Apple has been delivering her timeless, artistic music to the world since her stunning debut 24 years ago. In addition to Fiona's signature sound-making that captures emotions and scenes, this album has more percussion rhythms and a more vivid and resonant sound. The sound of the album is timeless. Fiona Apple continues to radiate timeless charm, and we can't take our eyes off of her in the future.
