Formed in Kansas, USA in 1969, Kansas made their major label debut in 1974, and released "Leftoverture" in 1976, which sold over 4 million copies. Toward Darkness," released in 1977, was also a big hit. The band broke up in 1983, but reformed in 1986. The band has been consistently active since then, despite a series of member changes, and has performed in arenas and stadiums around the world throughout the 1970s and 1980s, and still does today. In 2016, the band released their first new album in 16 years, "The Prelude Implicit," which debuted at No. 14 on the Top 200. It debuted at #14 on the Top 200, showing that the band is still going strong. Following the release of the album, the band embarked on a concert tour of North America. In 2017, the band released "Leftoverture Live & Beyond," a live album that captures the entirety of the tour.As the new lineup continues its energetic activities, the band has decided to release "The Absence Of Presence," its 16th original album after a four-year absence! The album is a must-listen for fans of the band, and is a work of American progressive hard rock of yesteryear, which can be said to be the true Kansas sound.
