Mdou Moctar, a psychedelic hero from the Republic of Niger and one of the hottest bands in the world today, including his international breakthrough album "Afrique Victime" in 2019, has released "Tears of Injustice", a sequel to "Funeral for Justice", on . This work is a sequel to "Funeral for Justice" and is released on the Matador label. Newly arranged and re-recorded for acoustic and traditional instruments, Tears of Injustice is an evolution of the critically acclaimed Funeral for Justice, and is an introspective and contrasting counterpoint to the energetic original. In Funeral for Justice, the anger at the plight of Niger and the Tuareg people is clearly expressed in the volume and speed of the music.In Tears of Injustice, the weight of the songs is still present, but the sound is not amplified. The sound is sad and conveys the grief of a people in a constant maelstrom of poverty, colonial exploitation, and political upheaval. This is raw, essential protest music by the Tuaregs. They decided to record "Tears of Injustice" together in the same room. They kept the sessions loose, stripped down, and spontaneous. We didn't work out the arrangements beforehand," Coltan recalls. We just played, got the feel, and wrote the songs." The process came together quickly, and the main recording session was completed in just two days. The hypnotic eight-minute take of "Imouhar" is actually two different parts played in succession. Partly because Mokhtar kept playing without allowing enough time to break up the takes, the band was able to return to Niger a month later, where Coltan gave Madassane a zoom recorder, which he used to record the first two parts of "Imouhar.Madasane, a rhythm guitarist, used it to record call-and-response vocals by a group of Tuaregs, which were later added to the final mix.
