This time, following Beethoven and Hartmann, Bohlen couples Mendelssohn, the king of concertos, with Britten, whose masterpiece concerto has been increasingly performed in recent years as one of the most representative concertos of the 20th century. Bohlen coupled Hartmann's concerto with Mendelssohn's D minor violin concerto with string accompaniment on the second disc, reaffirming the pleasure of listening to Mendelssohn with his beautiful sound and vivid technique, and now he finally takes on the E minor concerto. This time, the violinist finally takes up the challenge of playing in E minor. The calm tempo and the fusion of lyricism and passion highlight the beautiful melody.Britten's Violin Concerto was written for Antonio Bourassa, whom he met during the Spanish Civil War, and the second movement features flamenco rhythms. Bohlen again brings his virtuosity and rich musicality to this performance, which is full of empathy and passion with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of American veteran Andrew Litton.
