They peddle comforting myths and tell us we are the only ones who can explain the truth, while simultaneously suppressing our freedom, autonomy, and independent thinking. We are not only coerced, we are hounded, frightened, and controlled to turn our daily hatred against outsiders of their choosing and to turn a blind eye to our own voice of reason and compassion," said Matthew Bellamy. Compliance" is instantly addictive, with smooth synthesizer sounds and distorted alterna-pop elements.The power of the song swells with crushing drum sounds and intermittent bass lines while the singer sings, "Just follow me / No more pain / No more resistance / Just follow me. The music video for the song (shot in Poland by Jeremi Duran) was inspired by the film "Looper" (a 2012 American science fiction film) and follows three masked children as they try to escape a dystopian, oppressive world by destroying their future selves. Will of the People is a self-produced film by Muse. Major collaborators include Selvan Genia, who mixed eight songs and has won multiple Grammy Awards; Dan Lancaster, who mixed "Won't Stand Down"; and Alex von Korff, who did additional remixes on "Kill or Be Killed."
