Description:
The young prince of cello, Moreau, plays the cello with superb technique and single-minded devotion, paying no attention to his shaggy head, which is disheveled by the wind. His tone is unclouded and truly beautiful. It is refreshing to see him play music lightly, as if he were singing, while listening to the music of his friends and the sounds of nature around him.... Edgar Moreau won second prize in the cello division of the 14th International Tchaikovsky Competition at the age of 17, which brought him international fame, and as of 2017, he has been invited as a "young genius" to perform in concerts and with world renowned orchestras, giving fresh performances. His debut album is a "Collection of Pieces" full of beauty of tone and straightforward singing; his second album is a "Collection of Baroque Concertos" that shows his flexible sensitivity and baroque musical language. The third album, "French Cello Sonatas," is filled with romantic and eternal sounds. He had participated in "Debussy: Trios and Sonatas" with Renaud Capuçon and Bertrand Chamayou, and had discovered the essence of new works by weaving beautiful melodies with a slow and deep cello sound. Poulenc's "Memories" (5) is a piece from the incidental music "The Traveler without Luggage" (1944), which was first published with the permission of the Bibliothèque Historique de Paris and Benoit Soulanges (secretary of the Friends of Poulenc). The incidental music itself is for oboe and clarinet. The incidental music itself consists of oboe, clarinet, cello, and piano, but this is the world premiere recording of a version for cello and piano written at the end of the manuscript score.Poulenc diverts the first half of this piece to 'Lent et melancolique', just past the halfway point of 'The Adventures of Babar the Little Elephant'.
