Born in the U.S. in 1970, Nicolas Angelisch made his concert debut at the age of 7. At the age of 13, he entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, where he studied with Aldo Ciccolini, Yvonne Loriot, Michel Beloff, and Marie-Françoise Buquet, graduating with a first prize. She has performed with renowned orchestras around the world and has frequently visited Japan, enchanting audiences with her flawless musicianship. Although Angelisch specializes in romantic works by Brahms, Liszt, and others, this time she performs Beethoven's masterpieces, Piano Concertos Nos. 4 and 5, with great enthusiasm. What is most noteworthy is that he dared to use a Pleyel instrument made in 1892. According to Angelisch, "The concert grand piano, built in 1892, 65 years after Beethoven left this world, also has a modern tone that respects the sound and spirit of Beethoven's time." It was an instrument with a timbre that was the embodiment of the "new" that Angelisch was looking for. And although the moods of the two works are different, the graceful No. 4 and the magnificent No. 5, the instrument is capable of expressing both of them precisely.The album was recorded live at La Seine Musical, a new cultural complex on the outskirts of Paris, and the polished sound of the remarkable period-instrument "Insula Orchestra" led by co-star Ekirbey adds to the work.
