In celebration of his 85th birthday, this collection of recordings by Erato and former EMI exemplifies his eclecticism and wide range of skills in fine performance! He entered the Paris Conservatory in 1952 and graduated at the top of his class in 1954. He made his recital debut in January 1955 at the Salle Gaveau. He also gave a very successful recital at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris the same year, establishing himself as a pianist. In 1960, he made his recital debut in the U.S.A., where he also performed in the U.S.S.R. and U.K. He also studied with Wilhelm Kemp to further his exploration of Beethoven. Since then, he has given recitals and performed with prominent orchestras in the former Soviet Union, England, and many other countries around the world. in the 1960s, Heidsieck recorded numerous concertos, especially as a "Mozart player".Corteau continued to mentor him until his death in 1962, and this Corteau-directed approach to playing that prioritizes individuality lives on in him to this day. He has given more than 2,000 concerts worldwide and has become especially well known in Japan as a duo partner with his pianist wife, Tanya, and cellist Paul Torturier, whose outstanding interpretations of Beethoven's complete piano sonatas, recorded around 1970, and the 1958 His recording of the "Hammerklavier" sonata from 1958 is also complemented as a first release. Many of his best performances (Beethoven, Handel, Hindemith, Couperin, Debussy, Roussel, Ravel, etc.) are also included here for the first time on CD. The first CD releases have been remastered at 24bit/192kHz from the original masters. In addition, an album recorded by Toshiba Music Industry at the time of their visit to Japan in 1970 is also specially included. Warner Music Japan
