Edward Gardner & the Bergen Phil! Edward Gardner was appointed Chief Conductor of the prestigious Norwegian orchestra, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015, and through the critically acclaimed Edinburgh International Music Festival, seven international tours, and numerous recordings, has introduced the world to the charms of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. Although it has been announced that Edward Gardner will succeed Jurowski as Principal Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 2021, he has also extended his contract with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra for two more years and will continue to serve as Principal Conductor until 2023. Gardner and the Bergen Philharmonic have been highly acclaimed for their recordings of Berlioz, Schoenberg, and other large ensemble works, especially those with choral accompaniment, and this new recording is a strong team effort between Gardner and the Bergen Philharmonic. Benjamin Britten's masterpiece, the tragic masterpiece opera "Peter Grimes," is now available on SACD hybrid with Chandos' excellent recording! The title role, which was held by Peter Pears at the premiere, has sung Peter Grimes at the New National Theatre in 2012, English National Opera, BBC Proms, Edinburgh International Festival, and the Gardner & Bergen Philharmonic's international tour in 2019!
