The first album of 2017 by Nämé Järvi, the elder of Estonian musical families, is a double anniversary album celebrating Nämé Järvi's 80th year and the 90th anniversary of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, of which he is the Music Director & Chief Conductor! The anniversary year opens with the music of Johann Strauss II (1825-1899), the Austrian Waltz King. The concept is to trace the "Russian Summer Concerts" that Strauss II gave in St. Petersburg from 1856 to 1865 and again in 1869. This is a special program by Nämé Järvi. The hot and sharp baton of master Nämé Järvi, as demonstrated in his march albums such as Fuciuk (CHSA 5158) and Suppe (CHSA 5110), will lead us through enchanting waltzes, polkas, and marches that were extremely popular in the Russian Empire.
