Justin Davis is a British countertenor widely regarded as one of the world's finest singers, thanks to his beautifully dexterous voice and intelligent musicianship. He has won two Gramophone Awards, a Grammy Award, and a Laurence Olivier Award nomination, and was awarded the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2017 for his achievements. Yestein Davis is finally releasing the follow-up to his stunning 2017 Gramophone Award-winning J.S. Bach: Cantatas (CDA68111) with Jonathan Cohen's period ensemble, Arcangelo! This time, in addition to the two cantatas that Bach is thought to have written for a very gifted boy alto in Leipzig, the Schütz choral cantatas and Buxtehude arias are combined in a superb program that presents the noble intelligence and deep sensitivity of Justin Davis' singing voice.
