Alina Ibragimova's new recording of Mendelssohn, covering three violin sonatas plus sonata sections! Russian violin muse Alina Ibragimova performs everything from Baroque to newly commissioned works on both modern and period instruments. Sharply honed during her lockdown, she has received worldwide acclaim, including Record Arts "Special Mention", BBC Music Magazine "Instrumental Choice", ICMA (International Classical Music Awards) nomination, and Presto "Recording of the Year 2021" nomination! Following Paganini (PCDA68366/CDA68366), this new recording is a collection of Mendelssohn's Violin Sonatas! Ibragimova also recorded the famous E minor concerto as well as the rarely performed D minor concerto in the highly successful PCDA67795/CDA67795. In addition to the F minor sonata from Op. 4, the only sonata published during her lifetime, this collection also includes the F major sonata composed in 1838, which was discovered, revised, and published by Menuhin (the original version, which has not been significantly altered by Menuhin), the F major sonata written in 1820 (when Mendelssohn was around 11 years old), and the F minor sonata written in the 1820s, which was published in the same year as the F minor sonata. The four sonatas include the F major sonata written in 1820 (when Mendelssohn was about 11 years old), the D major/d minor sonata, which was begun in the late 1820s and of which only a fragment of the first movement remains.Together with the sensitive and rich piano of Cédric Tiberghien, who has created great art together on many albums by Mozart, Schubert, Ravel, Brahms, Franck, and others, the program will explore the essence of Mendelssohn's diverse violin works.
