Description:
Veteran pianist John O'Connor was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1947. He studied with Carlo Zecchi and others at the University of Dublin, and in 1971, he won various competitions under the tutelage of Dieter Weber and Wilhelm Kemp at the Vienna Academy of Music. As a first prize winner at the Beethoven International Piano Competition in 1973, O'Connor is a master of Beethoven's sonatas and concertos, and although he has performed and recorded them many times, he has not yet performed the "Variations on a Theme by Diabelli" in this album. He has performed and recorded Beethoven's sonatas and concertos many times, but this performance of "Variations on a Theme by Diabelli" breaks new ground for O'Connor, who has reached the age of maturity.
