The legendary Argerich and Babayan, the master of the ever-increasing Trifonov, will perform the superb Prokofiev! Argerich's partner for two pianos this time is Sergey Babayan, a superb pianist from Armenia who is well known among those in the know. He studied with Pletnov in Moscow, was the winner of the first Hamamatsu International Competition, and has won many other competitions including the Kasadosh International Competition. He is also a talented player who plays Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 5 on Gergiev's Mariinsky label.He is a master musician based in the U.S. as of 2018. ◆This Prokofiev album features Babayan's arrangement of excerpts from "Romeo and Juliet" and selections from plays, film scores, and operas. Argerich also performs Prokofiev's "Cinderella" with Babayan's teacher, Pletnyov, in an arrangement, so it will be interesting to compare this album with that one. Universal Music/IMS
