The latest release from Capella Amsterdam, led by Daniel Reuss, is a small group of Lassus' works, a program of motets for six and eight voices. The 12 motets here, most of them from Lassus's later years in Munich, have a great deal of melancholy, are written in a variety of styles, and have a deep rhetorical content. Capella Amsterdam, led by Reuss, sings with great sincerity, richly echoing the various elements of Lassus's individual works. Reuss has been music director of Capella Amsterdam since 1990, and has also served as principal conductor of the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir (2008-2013), the RIAS Chamber Choir (1003-2006), and since 2015 as principal conductor of the Lausanne Vocal Ensemble, as well as in the opera In 2015, he became principal conductor of the Lausanne Vocal Ensemble, and since then he has also been active in opera.
