The 2006 Gilmore Artist Award, a prestigious honor for pianists, was awarded to Ingrid Flitter for her Chopin recordings, and the Gilmore Artist Award, given every four years to pianists whose live performances are judged by critics (1998 - Anderszewski, 2002 - Ansnes), confirms the excellence of her performances. Fritter was also awarded the silver medal at the Chopin Competition in 2000. In this 2009 recording of Chopin's waltz cycle, Fritter explains, "The most difficult thing to do when playing Chopin's music is to find the right balance between his romantic soul and his classical expression...When you play, you have to find the right balance between the romantic soul and the classical expression. ...I always try to keep it fresh when I play it," she commented, and this performance shows her characteristic combination of power and delicacy.
