The quintet's hot live album is now available!

Enrico Pieranunzi performed at the Village Vanguard for the first time in 2010. The performance was released on CD on the CAMJAZZ label as "Live at the Village Vanguard" and attracted a lot of attention. The quintet then appeared at the club in 2013 and 2015, and this album is a recording of their fourth appearance at the club, in January 2016, with a quintet formation.

Enrico Pieranunzi has played on nearly 100 albums in a career that dates back to the 1970s and has collaborated with such big-name jazzmen as Chet Baker, Charlie Haden, Paul Motian, and Jim Hall, but live However, he has recorded very few live albums. He especially looked forward to performing at the Village Vanguard in New York City, where this album was recorded.

The recording members are all artists who are currently very active in New York City. Fronted by Diego Urcola (tp, tb), born in Buenos Aires in 1965 and active in the New York jazz scene since the 1990s, and Seamus Blake (ts), born in London and raised in Vancouver, who has visited Japan several times and is popular for his ever-changing playing. On bass is Ben Street, whose father is saxophonist Bill Street, and who studied acoustic bass with Miroslav Vitous. Drums is Adam Cruz, a New York native. All of them are the best of New York's elite.

Here Pieranunzi plays so aggressively and boldly that one forgets his title of "piano poet. You can catch a glimpse of a different side of Pieranunzi from the piano trio works, where all the pieces are Pieranunzi's originals and played with a taut tension.

The excellent recording is as raw and excellent as if you were listening in the front row of the Village Vanguard!

The Japanese edition comes with commentary by Hiroki Sugita.

Tracklisting:

1.Blue Afternoon
2.The Extra Something
3.Atoms
4.The Real You
5.Entropy
6.Song For Kenny
7.Five Plus Five
