Viotti, a violinist and composer active during this period, was one such composer. He served at the court in Turin and traveled throughout Italy, but his electrifying debut in 1782 at the Conseil Spirituel in Paris made him a household name, and he went on to serve at the Palace of Versailles and establish an opera house. However, the French Revolution broke out. In 1792, he went into exile in England and returned to Paris, but ended his life in London. Viotti's violin concertos not only had a strong influence on the French violin school, but also greatly inspired later violinists such as Paganini. The 29 violin concertos included in this box set show the evolution of his style over time, from the Gallant style to the early Romantic period. The works from his London period in particular show his musical maturity and change.\n\nThe violinist Franco Mezzena was born in Trento, Italy in 1953.He studied under Salvatore Accardo for 10 years. He has performed in concert halls and festivals throughout the world, including Europe, Japan, the United States, and South America, and has toured with \"I Musici\" and \"I Virtuosi di Roma\" to great acclaim.
