Count and Countess Waldner, an aristocrat on the verge of bankruptcy, plan to marry off their beautiful daughter Arabella to a rich man. Arabella dreams of a prince on a white horse who will come along with her, despite the many suitors she faces. Arabella's sister Zdenka, on the other hand, has been raised as a boy. She secretly yearns for Matteo, the officer who is courting Arabella. Then Mandrika, a wealthy country aristocrat and nephew of Count Waldner's former comrade-in-arms, appears and proposes marriage to Arabella. ......\n\nArabella\" is a comedic opera set against the backdrop of a time when aristocratic society was collapsing, in which the love and calculation of men and women and their differences are expressed with bitter laughter. In this work, Strauss promoted his dramatic technique of giving a sense of theatrical speed to the progress of the drama by placing the recitative with accompaniment at the center of the musical ideas, beginning with the opening act of \"Ariadne of Naxos\".\n\nTobias Kratzer's production is an ambitious attempt to decipher how the nostalgia for an aristocratic society in \"Arabella,\" the last libretto Hoffmanstahl wrote for Strauss, is connected to contemporary issues. The cast features Sarah Jakubiak (Arabella), who won critical acclaim for her performance as Heliane in Korngold's \"Miracle of Heliane\" during the Deutsche Oper Berlin 2022\/23 season, as well as Doris Zoffel, Albert Pesendorfer, Elena Tsaragova, and a host of other fine singers. The production features a superb lineup of singers, as well as a musical director, Doris Zoffel. Along with the excellent singing of the singers, the music is richly colored by the rich sound of Strauss's music with the Deutsche Oper Berlin Orchestra under the musical direction of Donald Runnicles.\n\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Naxos","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":50865342480673,"sku":"4589538819347","price":1130.0,"currency_code":"TWD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538819347.jpg?v=1742718809","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/zh-tw\/products\/4589538819347","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
