He was not only an accomplished pianist, but also an outstanding educator who trained many students, including Annie Fischer and Georg Solti. As a composer, he left many works, but unfortunately, they are not often performed. In this Capriccio series, D'Honagni's romanticism and sensuality are brought back to life in the modern age. This album, the fifth in the series, includes the overture to the opera in one act \"Aunt Simona,\" the \"Suite in F-sharp minor,\" one of D'Honani's most famous works, and his last orchestral work, the \"American Rhapsody,\" which features many references to American folk songs. The \"American Rhapsody,\" in which many American folk songs are quoted, is a particularly rewarding work. Accompanying it is \"Serenade\" by Léaud Weinel, who was eight years younger than Dohnányi. He is one of the composers who tried to fuse German Romanticism and Hungarian folk music. The performance will be given by conductor Paternostro, who has performed with many world-class orchestras and is known for his outstanding performances. This album is the follow-up to Symphony No. 1 (C5386), an album of D'Honanni's works.
