Rudolf Lutz conducts this series of complete Bach cantatas. The 31st collection includes Cantata No. 43 for Ascension Day, No. 145 for the 3rd day of Easter, and No. 17 for the 14th Sunday after the Trinity. The album also includes the violin obbligato version, which was replaced by the trumpet obbligato version at the time of the re-staging, allowing the listener to enjoy the differences between the two. The original manuscript of No. 145 has not been preserved, and we know the work only from C.P.E. Bach's facsimile edition. Although registered as seven pieces in the old edition of the complete works, the first two pieces are forgeries (the second piece is by Telemann), and only five pieces with Pikander's text are registered as true works in the new edition of the complete works. In this recording, the seven- and five-song versions are performed side by side, with Lutz's own sinfonia placed in the five-song version. No. 17 is a smaller cantata in two parts. The text is taken from the "Rudolstadt Poetic Compendium," and it is a gorgeous piece with a clear structure and praise to God. Naxos Japan
