Schumann and Mendelssohn by Fritter, one of the pianists recognized by Argerich, who hails from Argentina. Schumann's concerto is widely popular, but Mendelssohn's poetic beauty and virtuosity are no less so, and Fritter's solid technique and lyrical singing are a major attraction. Mendes, the conductor, is a young Spanish hotshot. He uses ancient instruments for trumpet, horn and timpani.
