The Breakaway was formed in the early 1970s by David L. Taylor, Bill Montgomery, Dale Montgomery, and Dale Baker, who played at nightclubs in Portland, OR, before the band was formed. The band was a seven-piece show band that gigged in Portland and later in Las Vegas, but eventually several members left the band and lead vocalist Kathy Newbury-Taylor joined the band. The band became a four-piece band and called itself Breakaway.Soul, disco, pop, rock, jazz, and a fusion\/obscure sound that reflects the late 70's West Coast in more ways than one. The cute and fresh high tone voice of Kathy Newbry-Taylor, reminiscent of Minnie Riperton or a young Patrice Rushen, is full of fresh charm favored by free soul fans rather than black soul. The album also includes \"Who Was It This Time,\" a genre-less masterpiece that is not limited to DJ play, TR#1 of the same type, TR#5 and TR#7 with a funky and psychedelic side, TR#8, 9, and 10 with a fusion disco approach, and TR#11 and 13 with a slower approach. Kathy's voice and the delicate groove combine to create a superb mellow soul. The medium TR#12 with the same name as the band's name is also excellent!\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Bbq","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":44074302734625,"sku":"4580290381875","price":532.0,"currency_code":"TWD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/products\/4580290381875.jpg?v=1669026733","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/zh-tw\/products\/4580290381875","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
