<The Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra was established by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in 1965 as a commemorative cultural project for the Tokyo Olympics. Currently, Kazushi Ohno is the Music Director, Alan Gilbert is the Principal Guest Conductor, Kazuhiro Koizumi is the Honorary Conductor for Life, and Eliahu Inbal is the Citation Conductor. Tatsuya Yabe serves as Solo Concertmaster and Tomoshige Yamamoto as Concertmaster. In addition to subscription concerts at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, Suntory Hall, and Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space, as well as music appreciation classes for elementary and junior high school students, music promotion programs for youth, on-site performances in the Tama and island areas, "Fureai Concerts" for the handicapped, and visiting performances at welfare facilities, since 2018, the orchestra has been holding CD releases include "Mahler Symphonies" by Hiroshi Wakasugi, Gary Bertini, and Eliahu Inbal, contemporary Japanese orchestral music such as Toru Takemitsu's works, the symphonic suite "Dragon Quest" (all series), and "Fate/Grand Prize". and video game music such as "Fate/GrandOrder".He received the "Kyoto Music Award Grand Prize" (6th), the "Record Academy Award" (50th) for "Shostakovich: Symphony No. 4" conducted by Inbal, and the "Special Award" (53rd) for the "Inbal-Tokyo Symphony Orchestra New Mahler Ticles".
