A rare collection of live studio recordings left by The Shadows for the BBC in the 60's! The Shadows were formed in 1958 as Cliff Richard's backing band, but also became active as a guitar instrumental band. In the U.K., the Shadows had four number one hits between 1960 and 1963, revolutionizing the music in the U.K. In the U.S., The Ventures existed. In the U.S., the band failed due to the existence of The Ventures and the fact that they were marketed as a surf-music type of band, but as a guitar instrumental band, they exerted a huge influence worldwide. In particular, Hank Marvin's clean-toned guitar sound with just the right amount of echo and vibrato made him a favorite of guitarists of the era. After the worldwide success of "Apache" in 1960, every song they released continued to be a top 10 hit in the U.K., but the charts began to show signs of slowing down around 1964.On the other hand, John Rostill joined the band on bass around this time, and together with Marvin, Bruce Welch (g), and Brian Bennett (ds), the most stable lineup was assembled. The CD contains the performances from the six appearances on the BBC's "Saturday Club" program from 1965 to 1968, as well as from 1973, when the band resumed its activities after the breakup (including four songs from the "John Peel Session" appearances), in chronological order. The songs are recorded in chronological order. Marvin has a strong image of a red Strat, but during this period, he used Burns' Strat. Many people must think of the Shadows as being only Burns. Although the selection of songs is not the best, the quality of the performance and the sound quality are perfect, making this an enjoyable album!
