Included are Nos. 72 and 156, written for the third Sunday after the Feast of the Epiphany, and No. 92, written two weeks later for Lent. These works were composed between 1725 and 1729 and performed at St. Thomas' Church in Leipzig, and all were written during the period of January and early February. All of the instrumental and vocal music is performed by one person per part, and the sound is very transparent. The performances are excellent, and Bach's complex polyphonic structures can be heard with great clarity. King International
