Carl Orff, famous for his "Carmina Burana," composed "Musica Poetica" as educational music (Schulwerk) in 1930-35 (when he was 35). Later, between 1950 and 1954, it was completely revised with the help of his student Gunild Kätmann. These music pieces are about the history of the development of Western music without difficult logic, but only with sound, using instruments that can be played by children alone (xylophone, cymbals, recorder, percussion, etc.), songs, and choruses. This is a valuable recording by Harmonia Mundi & BASF of Germany, under the supervision of Orff and Kätmann. The CDs were 10 LPs when they were first released, but they are now available on 6 CDs.
