Julia Fischer's masterpiece, the complete Bach Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin, is being re-released in CD format. Julia Fischer was born in Munich, Germany, and began playing the violin at the age of three and later the piano as well. Fischer made his sensational debut on the PENTATONE label at the age of 21 with the Violin Concertos by Khachaturian, Prokofiev and Glazunov (KKC-5942 / PTC-5186591), after having refused all commercial recording requests since his teens. The unaccompanied Bach concerto was recorded in December 2004, the same year as his debut disc, in a session at the Dorpershedzinde Church in the Netherlands. Jean-Marie Heysen, who was the balance engineer for the recording, has named it one of the most memorable recordings of all time, and it is a legendary recording, completed by Fischer's incredible focus on the complete cycle. Fischer's performance, in which every tone is fresh and convincing, proves that at the age of 21, he had already established a style of his own.
