Description:
In 1929, six years after German radio broadcasting began, the world was in the midst of a financial depression, but art and culture were at the dawn of a new era. Editors of the new medium, radio, worked day and night to produce appealing programs, broadcasting concerts and news one after another to attract more listeners. Especially popular were "music plays," for which many composers competed to create new plays. The plays were also played on increasingly sophisticated playback equipment, so that each household could enjoy the atmosphere of a concert hall. cpo has recreated the "plays for radio" in their original form, creating a series that allows listeners to actually hear the interesting works that entertained the public at the time. In this third collection, we can enjoy interesting projects such as a drama by Czech composer Pavel Haas in two versions, one in Czech and one in German. Naxos Japan
