The two composers' ambitious works, Schubert and Czerny, are performed on a replica of the fortepiano of the time. Czerny's great sonata, which pushes the limits of the instrument, is an uncanny and thrilling performance! Schubert and Czerny were contemporaries who lived in the same city and inherited Beethoven's compositional method with their own methodologies. In this album, you can compare their piano sonatas, which were influenced by Beethoven but developed their own unique language, using copies of the instruments of the time. Although Czerny was a direct disciple of Beethoven and a prolific composer, he is often regarded as a piano pedagogue, but it is clear that he left behind a very substantial body of work. Schubert's Sonata No. 19 is a masterpiece that is full of Schubert's unique charms, such as a spacious melody and rich modulations, although its tonality of C minor and its musical ideas clearly indicate that he was conscious of Beethoven, and its affinity with "32 Variations in C minor" and "Sonate Pathetique" is often pointed out. Czerny's Sonata No. 6 is in seven movements, nearly 50 minutes long, and is titled "Grand Sonata.
