In 1929, the young Shostakovich composed \"The Bedbug\" at the request of the playwright Meyerholz. The original work by Mayakovsky, which is a bit like science fiction, is full of biting criticism of the petit bourgeois class and bureaucracy, and Shostakovich himself was not very fond of this work. Shostakovich himself is said to have disliked it. However, the great playwright Meyerhorid persuaded him to take on the task, and he eventually completed the entire work in about a month. The originality of the derelict sound heard in the relatively well-known \"Interlude\" is unique. The other work, \"Love and Hate,\" was a film work that was ostracized by the rise of social realism, and although it was shown in France in 1937, it was not much talked about and has since been forgotten. Now, both films have been restored to their original form, with Mark Fitz-Gerald's score providing the perfect accompaniment to the original.
