In 1925, Kreisler was still at the height of his activity when SP recordings were first released using electric recording technology. In March 1928, Kreisler gave a concert at Carnegie Hall, and later toured Europe to great acclaim. In fact, his life was under stress due to the rise of Jascha Heifetz and others who had gained American citizenship in 1925, the illness of his wife Harriet in 1929, the death of his brother Fugot, and the Wall Street Crash. However, a series of recordings made under such circumstances have the immense centripetal force that only he could have achieved. This is a fascinating disc that includes rare, previously unreleased takes. Naxos Japan
