This album contains \"Requiem,\" which is the result of a fusion of Sami views of life and death, traditional music, and contemporary Western music. The songs take the form of a journey to Saiva, which the Sami consider to be \"the kingdom of death,\" and a return to life. Based on the form of a Christian requiem, the songs incorporate a variety of musical styles, including \"yoik,\" a unique Sami singing style, Nordic folk music, rock, blues, and improvisation. Stinnelbom, a yoke singer, plays the role of a shaman who guides the audience to the kingdom of the dead, some of the percussion sounds are sampled from traditional Sami drums, and Edenstam's organ sometimes sounds like modern French music, and at other times it is intensely Edenstam's organ sometimes sounds like modern French music, sometimes like violent improvisation. This unique expression of the world, with moments reminiscent of progressive rock, closes with Stinelbom's uplifting hymn to the return of the living.
