But Luigi, the most suspicious, pleads with him to let him disembark at the next stop. Michele breathes, \"Whoever it is, I will stop the sound of their breath with my own hand.\" Soon, in the pitch blackness, it is Luigi who comes to see his wife, mistaking the light of the match that Michele has struck for a sign to meet. In \"The Mantle,\" the first play of the \"Trilogy,\" the love-hate drama that unfolds on board a baggage boat is depicted. The play was inspired by Didier Gold's play of the same name, which was staged in Paris in 1913. The play is a concise script with heavy music that incorporates an ostinato (persistent tone pattern) pattern reminiscent of a flowing river, depicting an irresistible destiny. Vassallo, a veteran singer of Michele, sings majestically; Villari as Luigi, with a radiant voice that has received great acclaim in the Italian media; and Jose Siri as Giorgetta, who is at the mercy of two men.Valerio Galli has done an excellent job of bringing together the quirky characters surrounding these three. Dennis Kreeff's direction expresses the distortion of the minds of those who have nowhere to run by projecting a messy upstream landscape in the background.
