Description:

The old man was still great! Master Ionel Perrea's last homecoming performance in stereo! Ionel Perlea (1900-1970) was born in Oglada, Romania in 1900 to a Romanian father and German mother. His father died when Ionel was 10 years old, so he grew up in his mother's hometown of Munich, Germany. Perlea studied composition in Germany, so the maestro's musical background is German. He later returned to his native country, but was considered a collaborator because of his conducting activities in Nazi-controlled Romania (as was Georges Georgescu), and after the war he moved his activities to Italy. After hearing him perform with the Orchestra of St. Cecilia, Toscanini recognized Perlea's talent, which led to his frequent appearances at La Scala. In 1950, Perlea also made guest appearances with the NBC Symphony Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera. This was the beginning of his relationship with New York, where he ended his career. Since then, he has been active mainly in the United States. During the era of the strong US dollar, the American VOX label made a huge number of recordings with European orchestras, and Perlea was one of VOX's main artists. In 1957, he suffered a heart attack and stroke that left him paralyzed, but his drive remained strong and he conducted with his left hand only. He also taught at the Manhattan School of Music, where his favorite pupil was Taijiro Iimori. We have received valuable comments on the occasion of this release. The band did not return to Romania for a long time, as they had mixed feelings about their homeland, but in 1969, they returned to Romania for the last time to give a performance. The live performance is the masterpiece that appears in this issue. The royal road of German music, Beethoven and Brahms, was played with grandeur and breadth, and the performance was magnificent. The sound was muscular and the tension was immense. The sound is muscular and the tension is unceasing. Enesco's Symphony No. 1 is one of the best performances of this piece. Theodor Grigoriu (1926-2014) was a Romanian composer and music critic who also wrote a biography of Perlea. A fine work, rich in exoticism. The "Exhibition" is also a masterpiece of Perlea's lifetime, with dramatic and narrative music that is truly a masterpiece of opera. The following year he died in New York, but it is hard to believe that he was still in his later years. Unfortunately, the VOX recording mentioned above did not leave a particularly strong impression, so if you want to know the true value of Perrea, this is the definitive recording. If you want to know the true value of Perrea, this is the definitive recording. Tobu Land System
