As the title “Orchestral Organ” suggests, it features orchestral pieces performed on the organ; however, by leaving the sharp, percussive sounds—which the organ typically struggles with—to the percussion section, the instrument’s weaknesses are compensated for, giving the music a much tighter, more focused sound. The organ is a state-of-the-art model built in 2013 by the German Kreis Organ Workshop, and its brilliant, majestic sound fills the space to the brim. Most of the pieces are well-known works. The only exception is the interlude from the traditional Spanish zarzuela *La Aldea*, which is a delight in its own right. With a CD like this, it’s best to simply immerse yourself in the sound without getting bogged down in details.\nDaniel Oyarzabal is a Spanish organist.
