Monteverdi by Les Arts Florissants is now available in a 3-disc set! Paul Agnew is the co-conductor of the orchestra with William Christie, founder of Les Arts Florissants. The project to release three albums of excerpts from live recordings of the complete Monteverdi Madrigale concerts he has conducted is now complete. The three albums are now available in a boxed set as a mourning tribute to the Monteverdi Year. The three-CD set includes "Cremona" (from Volumes 1-3), "Mantova" (from Volumes 4-6), and "Venice" (music from the remaining Volumes 7 and 8). Monteverdi, who opened the door to the Baroque era with his innovative writing style, left behind a total of eight volumes of madrigales, and the transition of his style can be directly described as a journey from the Renaissance to the Baroque. Especially in the later works, in addition to the effective use of instrumental music, soloists sing together to develop a scene, creating a sound world as if it were a scene from an opera. The "Blonde Hair, Beautiful Treasure" with its catchy recorder and violin runs and joyful duets, the masterpiece "Lamentation of the Nymphs" with its sequential descending lamento bass, and the truly operatic "Tancredi and Clorinda's Battle" are just a few of the impressive pieces that capture the heart at first listen, The audience was struck by Monteverdi's genius.
